Welcome to Woodstock! Some say stepping onto the Woodstock Square is a Brigadoon kind of experience, wondering if its quirky charm can truly be real. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, recognized as a Distinctive Destination by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and named a Preserve America Community by the White House, the Historic Woodstock Square offers shoppers authentic, creative, custom-made items, in a uniquely nostalgic atmosphere of beautifully-preserved 19th-century architecture.

Come spend the day exploring our wonderful cafes, outdoor dining, live music for every taste, plays and concerts at Woodstock Opera House, and movies at the 8-screen Classic Cinemas Woodstock Theatre. Your visit isn't complete without a trip to the Main Street Pedway to marvel at our community's tribute to Woodstock's cultural legends, as depicted in the Woodstock on Film and on the Stage Mural and Sculpture Garden.

Of special interest on the Square is our independent bookstore complete with toys and gourmet foods; a custom bean-to-bar chocolate shop and lounge; artistic hand-made jewelry, pottery, crystals and leather items; fashion-forward apparel; bicycles; pet supplies; goat milk soaps and lotions; original fine art; and antiques, gifts and collectibles. The larger Woodstock area offers a wide range of eating and shopping establishments as well; choose from many familiar business names, or try a new one you won't find anywhere else!

There's always something happening in Woodstock, with year-round special events, festivals, and fairs-beginning in Spring with the renowned Fair Diddley juried arts & crafts show, to the 134-year old City Band concerts, to the award-winning twice-weekly Woodstock Farmer's Market. Our newest summer celebration, Wizarding World of Woodstock, brings smiles to three generations of family members under the spell of Harry Potter.

Not to be missed is Woodstock's Lighting of the Square held the Friday after Thanksgiving, when thousands of miniature lights illuminate the buildings and trees. Free activities include the Christmas Tree Walk at the Opera House and Gingerbread House Walk at the Old Courthouse, along with horse-drawn carriage rides around the Square and fine art exhibitions at the Old Courthouse Arts Center. Winter wouldn't be complete without a return trip to enjoy the annual Groundhog Days festivities, when we all relive Woodstock's starring role in the 1992 movie Groundhog Day...over...and over...and over again.

Bring your friends and families and start the tradition of making memories in Woodstock soon!
